THE BREAD THAT SATISFIES
“Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.”
(Isaiah 55:2)
The reality in our world today remains that some souls are bent on chasing fleecing pleasures and material possessions. It becomes appalling when souls that were created to praise and glorify the Almighty God chose pursuit of ephemeral treasure. In the heart of this, our text for consideration draws attention to a bread that can be bought without the price of modern day money. It goes a step further to state how unreasonable it is to spend one's lifetime value on intangible investment. Exposing the emptiness of worldly pursuits, our hearts need be fed with only that which truly sustains and satisfies both on Earth and at eternity.
Milk has been served as the basic necessity of life even to new born. But we must however understand that there is also a spiritual milk which is capable of nurturing sincere God seekers. This milk symbolises the genuine word of God—pure, accessible, and free to all. It is not reserved for the rich or religious elite but is available to every thirsty soul. When taken in, this milk nourishes, strengthens, and causes the soul to become fat and flourishing. It builds spiritual health, fosters growth in grace, and produces fruits of righteousness that endure through ageless eternity. When this is combined with the Bread that satisfies and sustains deeper longing for God, it activates obedience to the instruction that the Holy Spirit brings into the heart of a sincere seeker. It personalises heavens treasures which blesses with guidance, timely revelation, and living truth breathed by the Spirit into an attentive spirit. Unlike physical bread that perishes, this Bread imparts eternal life and delight.
Therefore, it is pertinent that one pays the currency of thirst and obedience to buy these eternal treasures that last forevermore. Beloved, stop labouring for what cannot satisfy. Turn to the Bread that truly satisfies—the living Word and the Spirit’s instruction. When we do, the delight of our souls will be satisfied by the covenant blessings of the LORD.
Thirst after the sincere word of God and obediently apply it to your daily activities.
Heavenly Father, feed me with Thy word, in Jesus Name, Amen.
