"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is defined as the act of trusting in the crucified and risen Christ for breakthrough. It is very important to approach God in faith because it is only by this that we are saved. We have been saved by God and we obtained it by believing in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ which was shed on the cross of Calvary. "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17). It is also true that there are things that we can not dare to do with our own human power. These things can only be executed with the assistance and intervention of the Almighty God. We must get it straight that it is in these kind of situations that we are expected to exert faith to enjoy breakthroughs. Do also remember that "...faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).
As Christians, we are to live in the believe that with God on our side, we can achieve the extra-ordinary. The promises of God are the recipes for living an extra-ordinary life. These promises can only be fulfilled in the life emitting Faith in God. We can not live an extra-ordinary life, if we do not expect to receive the exceptional from God. An active Faith believes God can do the extra-ordinary instantaneously.
How can this active Faith be built?
In order to build an active Faith, you need to consider doing the following:
LOOK UNTO JESUS AS THE DEVELOPER (Hebrews 12:2).
To overcome and understand the secrets of overcomers keep looking unto Jesus because He is the author and finisher of our Faith. He is the only authorised builder of solidified Faith. Especially, when it comes to structuring it and modelling it to be focused on God's potentials and Indispensable Power. In Isaiah 38:1-2, see how Hezekiah Faith was modelled after believing in God even in the situation he found himself. We see the outcome of those action of Faith with he put on display in verse 5, "Go, and say to Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years". God is still in the business of honouring every prayer made with faith in His unfailing abilities.
MAKE THE WORD OF GOD A FINAL AUTHORITY
Proverbs 4:20-21 says, "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart". Although there is a place for medical care, we can not continue to accept everything that physicians diagnose to be only treated by chemical reactions of pills and needles, as true. It is in those challenging moments that a believer is expected to hold on to the promises of God which stands out to breed supernatural deliverances from the clutches of sicknesses and oppressions of all kinds. We are not to act as feeble-minded as though we do not have a God who is not on the same pedestal as other physicians. It expected that we stand on God's unfailing Word.
CONTINUALLY FEED ON THE WORD
Because Jesus Christ was familiar with The Word, He was able to reply the Devil who came tempting him, as revealed in Matthew 4:4, "But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God". When trials confronts, weak faith does no good. At such times, it takes strong Faith that affronts the Devil at the gate, to overcome and conquer limitations. Feeding on the word of God builds a reservoir in us that makes us resilient to crisis.
MEDITATE ON THE WORD OF GOD
In Joshua 1:8, the Lord reveals while saying, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success". Meditating on the word of God entails thinking on the possibilities available in the word of God.
ACT ON THE WORD OF GOD
James 1:22 clearly states saying, "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves". Genesis 1:28, "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth". Luke 10:19, "Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you".
PRAY IN THE SPIRIT
Jude 1:20, "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost". Ephesians 6:18, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints".
CONTINUALLY GIVE GOD PRAISE
Philippians 4:6, "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God". Learn to praise God because praising Him encourages our Faith. We are to praise Him because He speaks and does whatever he says at His own time.
May the Almighty God furnish us with the wisdom to put into practice this teaching of His, in Jesus Name, Amen.
