DRIVEN BY COMPASSION

Bible Reading: MATTHEW 15:32-39

Key Verse:
“Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.” (Matthew 15:32).

Underlying the success of any endeavour in life is the strong motive that drives it. Generally, people who have very genuine motives have been known to excel far beyond their peers, contributed immensely to the general good of humanity and have left behind worthy and commendable legacies.

As we look at the passage of our meditation today, we cannot but be struck by the love and compassion that drove the actions and ministry of Jesus. He presents Himself to us today as a Shepherd who truly loves and cares for His sheep. Observe that the miracle of the multiplication of bread that took place here happened out of the care and compassion of Jesus. It was out of a genuine desire to meet people’s needs and solve their problems; same with every other miracle Jesus did in His lifetime. They were never meant to boost His ego. His miracles resulted from the deep compassion and care He had for the people.

We will never be able to truly help people out of their predicaments except we truly love and care for them. There are people who throw up philanthropic deeds just to get a good name and win cheap popularity. The same is true of pastors and ministers who seek to perform miracles so that people may know how great a “man of God” they are! No wonder some delve into diabolical practices to sustain their miracle-working power. How we need to be wary of such ministers!

As we care for the spiritual welfare of others, let us also think of other aspects of their lives, as deeds of kindness can have deep effect and produce a lasting result. This wonderful balance will make a greater impact.

Challenge:
Miracles happen when someone truly cares!

Prayer:
O LORD, fill me with Christ like compassion, in Jesus Name, Amen.

THE BREAD THAT SATISFIES

WINNERS' INTEREST PUBLICATION THE BREAD THAT SATISFIES Bible Reading: Isaiah 55:1-3 (KJV) Key Verse “Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.” (Isaiah 55:2) The reality in our world today remains that some souls are bent on chasing fleecing pleasures and material possessions. It becomes appalling when souls that were created to praise and glorify the Almighty God chose pursuit of ephemeral treasure. In the heart of this, our text for consideration draws attention to a bread that can be bought without the price of modern day money. It goes a step further to state how unreasonable it is to spend one's lifetime value on intangible investment. Exposing the emptiness of worldly pursuits, our he...

RISKY BUSINESS

WINNERS' INTEREST PUBLICATION RISKY BUSINESS Bible Reading: Matthew 7:21 - 23 Memory Verse “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:23) In our tech-driven world, face detection apps guard smartphones, homes, and offices with remarkable precision. A recognized face grants instant access; an unrecognized one is firmly denied. This modern reality mirrors a profound spiritual truth. Just as security systems reject unknown faces, Heaven’s gates will not open to those unregistered through a genuine salvation experience. Jesus Christ issues a sobering warning in Matthew 7:21 : “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Many will stand before Him on that day, citing impressive works of prophesy, the casting out demons, ...

David knew this season well. In the opening verses of Psalm 13, the psalmist pours out raw honesty before God—feeling forgotten, hidden from, and overwhelmed by sorrow and enemies. Yet something powerful happens by the time we reach verse 6. David shifts from lament to praise. He declares with confidence, "I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me." ...
